  • 1 for the offshore boys on here

How did you get your 1st start offshore? I've been trying for nearly 3 years and hardly a sniff of a job. I've got all me tickets (Survival,medical,mist,banksman/slinging,rigging/lifting). Ive sent my cv to companies, agencies and followed them up with phone calls only to be told Ive got no offshore experience and it helps if you know someone. I know its an incestuous industry but this in ****ing ridiculous! Any help would be appreciated

Companies like Schlumberger, Halliburton, Qserv and Expro will take on trainees in their wireline / slickline divisions but the pay can be pretty dire until you get up the ladder a bit.

Cheers mate I'll look into that. Its just been a nitemare trying to get me foot in the door. I work with companies such as Subsea7, Technip, Global Marine and Gulf Offshore at the docks where I work but they not interesed. I applied for a Rigger job with Subsea7 but got turned down for not having 200 hours offshore experience even though I work for them when their ships are in dock

I work in pipeline inspection so offshore work is part of the job, know of heaps of jobs in Western Australia were offshore work is required but experience not a must (sometimes will be working on offshore islands so the pay is just as good).
