Which Ford Focus?

For all you modern Ford buffs out there, whats the best Focus to buy? A nearly new 11 plate Focus Sport (old model) or the New Focus Zetec 125 There is £2 or 3K difference at the moment, is it worth it? We've had a Y plate Focus 2.0 petrol Ghia for a few years now but fuel economy is crap and road tax is ridiculous for a 10 year car. Its not for me, its for the missus and she really likes her Focus.

I use to have a 2005 focus sport from new 1.6 tdci loved it 60+ to the gallon cheap to insure nice car

Speaking as a pre-facelift Focus MkII owner, I would say be careful of expecting more from the MkII.
The latest model Focus has, for example, less boot space than the MkII, which has less than the Mk1, which has less boot space than the MkVI Escort etc etc.
That said, the MkII is much quieter and civilised, and the quality of finish of the interior is loads better than the MkI.
The handling of it isn't as nice IMO as a MkI.
I've never driven the new Fiesta, looks a very nice car, but there, looks can be deceptive. Personally I think you're better off with the bigger car, unless it just gets used around the town.

Sorry i can't comment about the new Focus models but quite a while back my wife had a 2000 "x" reg 1.8 ghia. It was one of the best driving "normal" cars we have ever owned.Good handling,traction,brakes,comfortable driving position and a nice revvy engine...it really was a suprise....the only none suprising part was that it was starting to go rusty on the edges of the tailgate and doors

Its not for me, its for the missus and she really likes her Focus.

Take the missus let here test drive them, kick the tyres, choose the colour etc,etc,
Then when she finally goes this is the one I want, then you have your answer.
Along as your missus is happy with it then you should have no problems.

from the ones ive driven the newer shape focus is nicer to drive but the engine is new where as the old focus is all tryed and tested
