Not a million from me this g, but im afraid lively in the right sense of the word is a no no ,heywood is not that big and Bury is a bit better as for as watering holes and places to stay ,good luck when picking your weapon sir

I work in Heywood. When we have people down from our Aberdeen head office we sometimes put them here. Not had any complaints.

Short taxi ride into Heywood itself. Wouldn't recommend the night life in Heywood though. Rochdale town centre is a short taxi ride in the other direction but I'm never been out there at night.

Rochdale is a total Shithole, i live near it and i havent been in the centre for around 10 years, its full of scroungers and Asians, i would rather stay home and stick needles in my eyes than go there lol

Birch services is near Heywood,I did some driver assessments,over there ,but stayed in a cottage for 4 days,glad I don't live over there though.Travelodge have 2 motels at Birch services.

Try the Village hotel it's at junction 2 of the M66 which is very close to Heywood and Bury.
