What with Pauls thread about new concours classes and having a day looking at old show photos I'm missing the old show scene and crack. In the days before t'internet all we had was the events page in Rallye News to plan your forthcoming season. I can remember checking the AA atlas to find Burghly House, Coombe Abbey, Drayton Manor to mention just a few, exciting runs down in convoy with the occasional mishap such as losing all lights on the M6 and having to rip the wires from the fogs and put them straight to the battery.
If we want that sort of scene again we have to create it, could we not as a 'works team' tag on to 5 or 6 classic shows across the country and hold our own regional days, someone would have to sort the stand with the show organisers and we could hold a 'voting slip' concours at each event.
Might be wishful thinking but it would generate a few more reasons to get the cars out after the Lakes has been and gone, plus if its combined with general classic show theres always plenty to see.
This is in no way meant to undermine the RSOC shows.
Next summer ....?
