next years holiday 2012

after having our baby a month ago i have been thinking about next summers holidays and taking a break in switzerland and austria .

i have been there before when i was training with the sas , but the wife has not .
but more to the point i was wanting to take the rs2000 with us and go for a blast on the tight twisty mountain roads that they have and enjoy the scenery ?

any one else been here with there cars or taken any road trips ? i have always wanted to something like this so now seems like the perfect time to do it , before its back to the sun lounger for a sore back for a couple of weeks .

The Nufenen Pass is a high (2478 metres) mountain pass in the Swiss Alps.

With good all round visibility the Nufenen starts in the west alongside a wild stream leading into the hairpin sections as you begin your ascent up the mountain.

Last year with the wife, I flew from Prestwick to Milan for the Italian GP @ Imola. (Friday - Monday).

Monday morning (Milan - Tirano) by train, then (Tirano - St Moritz) over the Bernina Pass.

3 days in and aeround St Moritz.

Thursday morning (St Moritz - Brig) on the Glacier Express, then (Brig - Interlaken).

3 days in and around Interlaken (Murren, Eiger, Jungfrau, Lauterbrunen, etc).

Monday morning 08:06 ICE from Interlaken to Basel, TGV Basel - Paris, Eurostar through the tunnel and Virgin from Euston in Glasgow for 10 o'clock.

For me and the wife, we never had a meal at night that was under 100 euro's. 8 euro's a pint in Italy & Switzerland.

self catering man , load up the x5 with nice wine in france and cheap dumpy bottles . take the food with us as we would be staying in the old swiss chalet ? does that not sound a good idea ?


did milan before , and lake como by train it was very beautyful place . took the cable car up the mountain to como village and had some views across the mountains . loved it .
