Hirvonen : "The championship is over"

Following the damage sustained to his Ford Fiesta RS WRC, Mikko Hirvonen will not race after service and thus for all intense purposes hands the 2011 title to Sébastien Loeb.
If repairs can be made the Ford driver would lose another 20-minutes to Loeb, making it mission impossible to catch the Frenchman. Hirvonen had taken the lead on the previous stage after giving Loeb all he wanted on Friday morning but then it all went pear shaped on Dyfnant 1.“I just lost the car in braking, the car started to slide away from me and spun. A limb or a stick must have punctured the radiator”, said a saddened Hirvonen on WRC radio. Hirvonen tried to carry on but he knew it was for naught. “Unfortunately, the engine is dead now. It went down to 3 cylinders in the stage. We kept doing the stage, but now the car won’t run. The championship is over and now we have to work towards the future. Hopefully, Jari-Matti can win this round for Ford and as it concerns my future we will see next week?
