hi does anybody on here rent a property not through an agent seems to me like they want 15% for not a lot and if it all goes wrong its your problem any advise anybody thanks

i do mine myself,you can get a tennants agreement from w h smiths,landlords insurance will be @140, gas safety certificate,smoke and carbon detectors a must oh and i had a key meter on the electric,you could also do this for gas,so your tennants pay as they go. start on a 6 month lease just in case you dont get on. the worst bit is getting the right people in.sigpic

you could always ask for a referance and its normal to take a months rent in advance there is a webb site residental landlord good tipps given here. first time i let it we advertized on gumtree,free, had a good response,most people exspect white goods ie cooker ,fridge and washing machine i put a new washing machine in and told them if they had any probs call the shop cheerrs kevsigpic

I used an agent on a tenant finder basis, they get em in then you take over. My guys been bang on pays rent on the nail never hear from him, took a bond of 6 weeks rent which i have banked so if he ****s me about i keep his cash
Agree with 6 month contract then if they are a wayne kerr you can get rid with no grief.Ex-Chairman of 'The Clique'
