I would say that maybe some body colours dont suit a vinyl as much as others, just as some body colours suit a certain colour glass, but it does'nt make it another model if fitted.

With regards to colour, I would say that most of the lads are saying not not to change the colour in the interests of protecting the money that's invested into the car by the owner.

          Hello John,
The adding of a vinyl roof or not having one is up to the owner. I do not care. it only an opinion, after I had been drinking! And yes how could a colour or vinyl roof make a 1100 an RS or an RS1800 an RS?
I stated my own personal opinion, and it was not intentional to upset people who cannot accept others opinions, as personal taste varies.
Once I have finished welding my roof I could put on a vinyl roof to hide the skim/buckets of filler. Everyone has different taste...I bet loads of people on here have owned Montegos, or Princess's..... up to them.....some one had to...
          All the best, Jimmer

You should maybe lay of the loopy juice then son , I'm not so sure, my Harrier play's a good role of a rs1800 and there are a few popular rs's out there that even the right seat's, glass or a vinyl cant mask

It's totaly fine to have your opinion's, would probably came accross better if had not been at the gin bottle

Friday nights the night for the drink and forum son, get a music post up and we can have laugh at that

And yes Mr Frost your car fit's the bill as it's a flat front rs that some tw4t has cut a pod into

            Regards John

PS, I hope you have good taste in music lol

                Hello Gordy,
If you are referring to the photo's of my old RS in the garage, the old wreck has had many resprays in it's time and the seller said it had been raced. Well yes it certainly had! and has much damage under the filler and paint After pouring a few gallons of Nitromours over the existing paint the original paint came thru' it was originally a yellow car. Quite a nice colour when fresh. I thought Ford used Satin Black?, probably wrong though
If you are referring to my avatar that was another respayed RS, a 1976 Mex. There cannot be many cars left in original paint. I would say well worth saving one in that case
                All the best Jimmer

When i first got mine, the first thing on my list was to paint it black!!!!

then i drove it around a bit and the colour grew on me. NOBODY else i worked with at the time likes it and said paint it.

so glade i kept it original, i just love the colour now.

your car your choice an RS is for life not profit!

                    PS may still sell it

I changed the colour of my RS at the weekend.
It was after 4 liters of Magners and a Madras.
                          Never again

Just to come at this from a different angle, my car was painted by the previous owner from signal yellow to Jupiter red met, not a RS colour but a period metallic shade. There was always a desire by us lot in our young and stupid days to have a metallic mk2 just to be different from the crowds
Don't get me wrong, I love yellow especially on a flat front but when you look at pics from the lakes, count the yellow, White and red models..
                            I'll get to the point
My personal opinion of my own car changes daily, I can live with it, I hate it, I'm changing it etc but the proof of the pudding is at the shows
I can count on one hand the complimentary comments about the colour, but countless know all types have asked me why I've stuck a nosecone on a ghia
The bottom line is it's your car, do as you please!
But be prepared for a bit of flak
                            Cheers
