One assumes that (as hinted) that these will be made from a kit of parts (assembled in the UK). That way Ford have limited legal recourse, as you can't stop people from "assembling" a shell from a set of parts.
There could be trouble if these were used on the road, who would be liable if there was a problem (major accident) that could be traced back to assembly of the shells?

I hope whoever's doing this has got the legal side covered, or it could get expensive.

What's the difference between doing this and building a kitcar though, surely the legal issues are the same?

A self fulfilling prophecy if I ever seen one.

The person involved with this already purchases the reproduced Ford Mustang bodyshells and instigated the reproduction of the MK2 escort bodyshell form the same company.
Representatives of this company have visited the UK with samples and to collect some original pannels to measure.

I thought that to get a new reg plate the car would have to be built from all new parts (or at least a very high percentage) so I wouldn't have thought it possible even with a new shell. Plus, if it was registered as 2011 then current emissions and other safety regs would apply surely?

I would have thought one could be built up fairly easily to meet the SVA test.

I can't see how a non cat, carb fueled pinto could pass modern emissions, let alone the myriad of other regulations that a new car has to meet these days. Anyway it's moot given that it's unlikely having enough new parts (including this shell if it ever appears) that the car could be registered as 'new'.

So you build a brand new mk2 escort with all new parts, pass the Sva test get a new reg plate, you would be one happy chappy until your not allowed it on the Lakes Tour as that's for Pre1980 RWD fords
