Looking at mine for too long on Wednesday eh Paul ?
Why not put the car back to standard but change the cam in the engine for something like a meduim to fast road and run a 38 DGAS with a standard air filter. It will look pretty much standard but will go that little bit better.
I don't think there is anything wrong with the mods you have done, they are all pretty much period - it's nothing to do with what is best, it's all down to personal taste.
Depends what you want out of the car , I've had modded and standard. This time I am going standardish with with five speed box , torquey cam and as much sound proofing as I can get in. Then I can have a nice relaxed drive to the shows and the wife won't moan about rattly old Escorts. Lets face it with the speed cameras and aerodynamics you don't want to sit at more than 80 on the motorway and a standard car will pull that all day long.
cheers, Paul
cheeRS chaps ...i don't know what i want at the mo its just the rs don't fell like how i wanted it it might be the diff thats doing it and the prop...?
Paul - i have 2.1 with vulcan maxiflow head, kent fr32 cam and twin 44idf`s, with a stainless twin box exhaust. And believe it or not, its as quiet as a standard rs2 on the motorway. With the gp1 airbox you hardly hear the carbs but you have plenty power. Its a great balance of quiet/power. I also have a gp1 single piece prop, 5 speed box.
sounds like you just need to tinker about a bit with what you have, not go from one extreme to the other.
thought about putting an atb diff in it, its a nice comprimise between standard, and something of use! dont have to bother with special fangled oils, and it wont wear out, and once its set up itll never need touching again (well, within reason)
personally, as long as you are changing things for the better, or in keep with the period and model then you cant go far wrong.
