Does anyone know if it is possible to buy primer that looks exactly like the stuff ford used on their escorts?? the green coloured dip coat???

No, it`s not for panels, it`s for a shell i have which has the majority of the underfloor original finish. There is some surface rust that would need to be sanded off and so i`m looking to repaint some area`s.
Think it may be difficult to replicate ??

Most primer I've used has been a very light grey, so if the paint factors could add some green to it, then I don't see why you couldn't get something close to what you're after. I saw an RS2000 in a magazine that had a primered underneath with factory style overspray of the top coat (happened to be green in this case), so I get what you're after.

Not so easy to pin down as there is a different
code for dove grey each year.
But you can match any colour ,getting it to match the shade
on the underside of your shell wont be so easy.
And it will be cellulose on the shell.
Probably best to match and paint the full underside.
