  • Didnt make RSOC Knockhill Today

Was going to go up to RSOC at Knockhill, got 4 miles from home then no Oil pressure on the city bypass ,

After taking the pipe of the side of the block and starting the engine no oil was coming out, can only assume hex shaft has broken at bottom of dizzy or oil pump ****ed.

Thank goodness I noticed the gauge and pulled up quickly.

AA guys and a few passers by were impressed at the condition

    Bummer didnt get to Knockhill

very lucky, pulled up straight away.

Oil pump seems to be the cause, hex shaft at bottom dizzy intact still no pressure with electric drill turning it.
      Sump off job

i did make it to knockhill, but suffered a similar fate............

6 hrs and 2 recovery trucks to get home.
last session on track too when it went.
must be my bogey track, broke it last year there too.

thanks to kev c and dave rob for stopping on side of road too.

          UPdate

          Finally got engine oot yesterday

Pick up pipe bolts to oil pump worked loose letting the oil pump draw air

Got Big end caps and mains caps off and thank goodness all is ok ,
Im now going too make a tab washer arrangement for these bolts so it cant happen again.
Sorned the car to get tax back and dont think I will bother re taxing as going to take a while to find the time to refit engine, repaint all the chipped bits and the weather sucks in scotland so what the point.

they all came from the factory with locking tabs so this can't happen,
              has someone removed them ????

Must have andy. I had the bottom end rebuilt . I fitted the pick up pipe and sump so its my fault not being aware of this.
Will go and check a spare engine I have in the hut and use the tab washer off it.
Cheers Neil. PS where have you been hiding
