        martin

not lost too much really its just that it makes a right mess of the engine bay.

Ive had the pump of today and tried using just that blue gasket sealer stuff but its leaking even more now , so it looks like i will either have to try and make a gasket or put more of this blue shit on it

        will give burtons a try

Gaz is it definitely the gasket and not the bearing leaking ?

sure a new pump is only £15

Brian it deffo looks to me as its the gasket as water is coming from the joint between the block and the pump, a few others looked at it over the weekend and they said it looks like the gasket too

Burtons do have them so i will try the gasket first .

If its not the gasket what are the after market pumps like?

or was that £15 for a ford item?

            edited to add
just looked again in the burtons catalogue and ford items are £46

that was an option today but opted for the instant gasket stuff instead, wish i hadnt now as ive got to do it again

For £15 i might just buy a new pump and get the gasket with it

You not eat cornflakes Gaz?! The box makes good gaskets only bettered by gasket material. I know its daft but it really does work! Nice and thin but just compressable enough. Tap it round the edge of your pump with a ball pein hammer.

                            Gaz,
I'm sure there is a small hole at the bottom of the pump that the water ****es out of when the seal goes inside the pump. This would leave a track of water from the bottom of the pump right down the block face which might look like it's leaking between the block face and the pump so check this first as I wouldn't want to see you do it a third time.

                            Chris.

the leak is from the top of the pump so it really only can be the gasket.

spoke the the man at the local motor factors today and he as a new pump and gasket and he is going to copy the gasket for me and make me a new one for 50p hes making a few others as well whilst hes at ..so wiggy go and get one while they are there
