Van drivers in London beware !!!!

Incase you didn't know , workers with diesil vans older than 2003 models will be getting raped by the Transport for London tossers from Jan 2012 . They want approx £1000 to convert your van and then £20 a year to test their "conversion" (this will no doubt be £50 before you know it) or else you'll be banned form driving inside the M25 !!!!
Diesil cars are unaffected of course so it's another stitch up for the tradesman etc trying too earn a living .
Anyway the fight back starts here , i've emailed the dicks and await their phone call within the next 10 days (should be funny , lol) .
Here's a copy of my email i sent :

1. Subject: Low Emission Zone - Vehicle related
2. Details: I'm not sure about your latest money making scam regarding diesil vans inside the L.E.Z. and require some info please .
3. What is the weight of a van that is not getting taxed to death in kilos please ? Is your quoted 1205 cut off weight in tons or metric tons or simply in kilos please so i know for sure ? If i get my van under the weight and take photos of it on a council weigh bridge is this ok to avoid getting raped/robbed yet again ?
4. We are already struggling with lower wages , higher parking , higher diesil , higher road tax , higher insurance prices , etc etc so with this latest stitch up i don't know why i bother trying to earn a living anymore !!!! I may as well sign on the dole and go out stealing things like all the Gypo's do !!!!! Thanks Gary .

Was in the paper yesterday that Boris has done adeal with van manufacturers to get upto 3k off a new van or truck, which is all very well but they're all pants. Heard that its gonna be a rolling thing too with later vans upto 2005/2006 in a couple of years, something to do with a european law to clean up the city of emissions by 2015.

Get yourself one that doesn't have it's own weather system following behind it and you will be fine.

what a rip of ,sympathize witn you there gaz,up since a few weeks now what i earn (as a brickie ) doesnt cover what i have to shell out every week ,ie electric,council tax ,etc etc donnt smoke,or drink i just survive no holidays and i work 40 + hors a week now the tax is gone up again ,i pay £1.55 a litre of petrol diesel is more again i think last week after all i had to pay i had £22.50 to do a family shopping for 5 and all i hear is we have to tighten our belts and we need to cut back this that and everything and with all that am working in the ****ing rain nearly every other day if not that its howling gales was saying to my mate the other day feel like chucking it all in and going on the dole but i've only being paying my taxes for 28 years so probably wonnt qualify for nothing sorry for that rant over with but you see were am coming from

They're taking the **** . My van is a 1998 H100 2.5 turbo diesil and it's only worth about £1500 so i ain't spending £1000+ converting it to meet their stupid new ideas . My van is a great size as it's long and thin (used by carpet fitters usually) so very usefull for electrical work . I can get step ladders , full lengths of conduit/trunking etc etc straight in the back unlike the shitty new vans which would need roof racks . Roof racks help thieving scum pinch all your gear off them plus you can't get into car parks as they hit the roof !!!
It's in perfect working order and doesn't polute any more than a Diesil car of the same age so it's purely a scam to make money from workers . If i can't use it then i'll ram it through the front door of their head office the day before the scheme starts and they can claim of my insurance !!!! . Cooooooounts

"The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, announced plans earlier this week to help clean up air quality in the London area by extending the London Low Emission Zone (LEZ) to include certain vans which are not Euro 3 compliant.
As from 3rd January 2012, large vans with an unladen weight from 1,205 kg up to a gross vehicle weight of 3,500 kg, registered before 1st January 2002, and not meeting Euro 3 emission standards, will be charged £100 per day to enter the London Low Emission Zone."




So it looks like all our vans and trucks will be shipped out to the Middle East and converted to "rocket launcher" spec by the Taliban before christmas then .

Found out today that it will be £1600+ to convert an older van to meet the new regs . WTF

Even though this effects all us inside the M25 at present you can bet it will be a nationwide scheme in 10 years time . Plus anyone from outside the zone that needs to drop off stuff inside the M25 in a diesil van /lorry/transporter etc etc older than 2003 will have to pay £100 a day or a £500 a day fine if they forget !!!!
Cheaper too beat up a traffic warden and get a lift into town inside a Police van .

Good to know you can carry some conduit inside your van.
If there ever was an argument for stopping polution inside the countrys capital it would be to put a bit of plastic inside a van

Now and again get out of the van, see what the new capitial really looks like.
It's a great place, less traffic, cleaner air, lower noise levels.
It's a place people will want to come and visit and live in.
And if it's something people want they will pay.

You get so many beneifts from living in the Capital.

van conversions are cheap compared to the money the guy i do some driving for has paid out on his trucks...... spent a small fortune bringing engines up to higher spec , then had to pay out again for new exhausts and particle filters.. and now its gonna go to waste as they have moved the goal posts again..... so.... perfectly good trucks will be sold on and he will have to pay out for some new ones just so the pen pushers can keep nice and cool with the air con units i am bringing them... if the air is gonna be so clean why can they open the friggin office windows and cut back on their electric bills............

lol , foookin biro pushers need stringing up . Their goalpost moving should mean a refund to all the buisness' that paid out for the last lot of changes .
Soon they'll stop you driving mk1/2 Escorts etc like in Germany , they have to notify the goverment in advance when they intended going for a drive .
Imagine that : "hello biro pusher , i intend driving mk Escort mk1 on the 15th of April at 10.30am until 3.45pm and i may be sideways for a while so is that ok with you ****s ?" , lol
