  • CAN ANYONE RECOMMEND

Can anyone recommend a liquid that will remove ziebart, but not factory underseal or paint, my car is now on axle stands and i,m carefully removing all the ziebart, started with the back, done the boot floor and both wells, their in superb condition, got through to the factory underseal and original paintwork, undersided at the mo, whether to go for a complete one colour underneath, or dependent on how the rest of the floor shapes up to replicate the original floor paint finish, havent uncovered anything untoward at the moment, will post some pics when ive worked out how to do it, the stuff i,m using at the mo is called Morris Lydian solvent degreaser

wd40, thinners or petrol soaked in a cloth. They all work.
Very messy job, done it on my own car Ian.

word of warning, i had a two owner mk1 mex once that was ziebarted from new and the second owner tried to clean it off under the bonnet and it took the paint off, he told me he used the petrol and rag method !!!

Vinny, thanks, for the warning, i think i,m not too bothered if it rubs through some of the paint, i just want to go careful, so as much as the originality can be retained, regarding the factory underseal, it will then be painted one colour or factory finish, complete with overspray !!

Good point, however, i,ve already realised i,m in Florida for Nat Day, this year, so bearing that in mind, and not wanting to do it in the freezing cold of winter, my target, money dependent is Spring 2006, to have it ready, i know thats seems a little strange, but i have to say, i,m just happy knowing theres one sitting there the other side of the living room wall !!! lol
