Probably partly down to appalling editing - but a disgracefully misleading programme, no better for being seen second time around to check if it had any redeeming features. Paints what is merely an accurate timing competition as something in any way comparable to what the MM was. Never explained why anyone takes on a driver with no navigation experience as co-driver for this sort of event, which requires timing/navigation skills only from the other seat.
Reflects particularly badly on the classic car trade in several respects.
A "made for prime time" piece of nonsense just for those who know nothing whatsoever about the historic scene. Sad thing is that the TV powers will count it as "motorsport coverage".
James Martin has since bought the early ex-works Cooper S 8EMO. Supposed to have been entering Monte Carlo Historique in it but no sign yet. I have to hand it to him that, when the MCR forum started slagging him off for this MM performance and calling him a t*sser, he came on the forum himself and made a reasonable, restrained response, rather than running and hiding.
talked to a bloke at the silverstone classic a couple of years back and he said they stiched up james martin in the editing to make him look a right knob.not sure how true this is.
what i need is a high horse like the others have !
