  • Double standards ?

Seems to be loads of threads lately, people reporting Ebay logbook sales everyday and getting all excited.

On the flip side of the coin people post pics of Aussie shells they are restoring or incorrect shells for the year etc and everyone passes positive comments and praise.

I know how difficult it can be to register legally an imported shell, but if they have been brought in classed as spare parts and without all the relevent paperwork you don't stand a chance.

Plus why would you do all that hard work to have it legally registered as a 1.6XL etc , people buy them to build RS spec cars cos they have most of the strengtheners.

So why are we turning a blind eye to those and still slating Ebay ? Is it because we think all the logbook sellers and buyers only occupy Ebay and aren't members on here ?

Think we should move on guys, we know it happens, the Oz shells can be good buys, the V5's keep appearing, Escorts get reshelled , always have, always will.

If you want to buy them and do it just keep quiet and dont make it everyones buisiness, at the end of the day you have to be content with the car parked in your garage, you know what you have or what it was and if your buying one buy carefully or with your eyes open.

Probably open a bit of a debate this but no falling out boys

so you think ringing an aussie shell onto a uk logbook is ok i bet the police/customs/dvla/ dont selling logbooks helps the thiefs in my opinion and we all know how easy it is to steel an escort and remove its ID

i agree with what you said Paul. It's always gonna happen, like it or not but your point is very valid. Tbh most of the cars out there will have some kind of chequered history.

Long as people are honest about it when it comes to a sale of the car, it's OK. The problem is that this rarely happens...

I would hate to be in the position where I needed to buy a car now. I would only entertain well known cars with proven history. Freshly done cars would need to be gone through with a very keen eye to say the least.
I hate the selling of logbooks as these can very easily be assigned to a stolen car (Boldy's MK1 for example) People should not be allowed to build a car from one either What I don't understand is why people need to have logbooks stashed away in a "Top Drawer"???? Is it purely for memorabilia??? hmmmmmm.
As said before though, I don't really have a problem with a car being re-shelled as long as this fact is made known when the car is sold. To not say anything is criminal and out of order

that is why you need to be very sure what you spend your cash on is what they claim it is.even well known cars are not what they seem but command big money.no problem buying an import with a uk book as long as it's known about.another point i'm not sure if it's been raised before is if,and it's a big if,shells do get re-made,mk1/2 these logbooks will then become more valuable and will they then regain 100% legal use ?? it's a minefield
what i need is a high horse like the others have !
