  • Daily use vehicle, Focus RS/ST, MK 5 RS 2000?

    Hi all
Thinking of disposing of the daily runabout VW Golf paint tin and getting something a bit more interesting!
Any experience out there of the suitability of a late model EscortRS2000 or maybe one of these new fangled Focus things? As lovely as MK 1 or even MK 2 is it doesn't really cut it for day to day use hacking around motorways and across city car parks.
    Interested in your thoughts
    Cheers
    Mark

Hmm,think it may be a bit on the small side. Anybody any views on the RS Focus? Any good? Will they be the classic RS of the future or is it just a cynical badge-up?
As for the Golf GTI idea, nice but bored with the whole German car thing.

MK1 Focus is definitely a classic of the future and a great car to drive.

mk1 focus rs very reliable, good all round car,but buy a modified one as standard they are boring, and theres always plenty about for sale, had mine 2 years, gave 10k for it with 4k worth of mods on it,but at 350 bhp would be a bit of handfull in winter, mines only a summer toy

Yes I have been looking at the Mk6 RS2. They seem to go for very little money but do seem to have done big miles usually (100k+). Be nice if could get a genuine low miles one that didnt need regular fettling.

As for the Mk 1 Focus RS, I am pretty keen on them. Bit confused about the various versions etc. Is there a bit of a guide as to what Mks there are what they had/did etc. There is a fairly new one for sale at the local Ford dealearship so I am going down tomorrow to have a play. Seem a bit pricey though. 23k

                    Thanks for the ideas all

£23 grand for a MK1 FRS!!!!!!!!!!!. At that price mate I would assume it is a MK2 FRS.

Id rather have a ST than an old shape RS for daily use.
Better built, dont rust, can get parts for ST(cant get mk1 Focus RS bumpers,1/4's,f.wings anymore iirc etc)
                        Big difference in price between a mint mk6 RS2(£4k)and a Focus ST(£7K+)and mk1 Focus RS(£8k+)

Proper rallying is done down the lanes!
