As posted on the other thread. A re-shell is a great option if the original is beyond repair. When it comes to sale time the owner should say that it is a re-shell and to be honest about it.
There are a lot of unscrupulous scumbags out there that re-shell then try to palm the car off as genuine. That's when it gets naughty IMO!

              your right kev 100%

as per our phone call if someone on here found a 100% rotten RS1800 in a garage and i mean rotten now way that it could be saved and then you bought the car for al the parts what do you then do with the log book ?????
do you fill it out and send it of to dvla as scrap or do you reshell the RS1800 into the next best thing ????? i would just like to know what you all think about that cos if you save the RS1800 then a mexico or RS2000 is in the same boat and we cannot say anymore about it apart from when the car is sold it must be told it is a reshell and aslong as thats done i see no problem with it...i did it with RRR60R and never hid it and thats the way to do it not on the snide.....long live the escort

i agree with kev and mark, if a re shell saves a rs from the scrapers then i would do it. but i would tell potential buyers and have proof to show this with photo,s. imo we must do wha t we can to p[reserve em.

i also own a couple of ww2 jeep,s and it is now possible to build one from patrs and i mean every part is available ,the body tubs are made in the phillipines, along with wings, bonnets and repair panels.
as you can imagine the youngest ww2 jeep is now 66 yr old, last ones built 1945, i know of plenty that have repro bodys on them and why not if it means the vehicle can put back on the road.

I don't support ringing of any kind. IE, Log book swapping!!!
I once re-shelled a MK2 Mexico I rolled into a 1600 Sport Shell. I kept the car on the 1600 Sport plates and tags. (TRY 925S) but re-applied the Mexico Decals. I ended up rolling it again so it went to the scrap yard LOL.

To re-shell an original RS into a non RS shell to keep the car on the road is ok with me BUT, as said this must be declared when it comes to sell the car.

i agree 100% the next owner should always be told imo.

The shell is the car and the RS parts are extras on top so to transfer the extras onto a non-RS means the car is a non RS.

So therefore you can change an engine its still an RS as its the same with all the bolt on goodies. Thats why genuine cars command a premium and reshells are not RS cars unless you use another RS shell as a donor which is unlikely. Therefore a reshell is not the genuine article. Just a copy............ let the argument run as it always had............and not just for Fords.....

would say everyone to there own .
ye new owner should be told before sale .and u be a true ford man at that.
or on the other hand just keep ur car and not sell it and only u will no
if its a genuine or not..
