you did well there,30 years ago a mk1 1200 cortina was £250 third party f nf i was earning £23 a week as an apprentice had to work washing up in a hotel all day sunday and monday nights just to run it. i paid £125 for the cortina.so i personally think its all revelant, but if your son/daughter is at colledge and hasent got a job for whatever reason then normally good old dad will have to sell the RS to pay for it.insurance has always been dear imo. btw my nan lent me the 125

            Hi

Gone through this last year with my daughter. Found in the end it was cheaper to insure her 1.1 saxo in her name fully comp with me and the mrs as named drivers, but her as the main user. This makes it cheaper for some reason?

The other thing I did was do a 10 month policy with Admiral at a cost of £600 and they give you 12months NCD at the end of it as long as you dont make a claim of course, and they have. They do charge a lot for monthly payments though, so it cheaper to pay it in one lump sum.

Try confused.com as Admiral own it. Not sure about boys though, think I will start saving for my lad now who is 10!

            Regards

Be careful what you put in the search engines as they share information, I know lads who put in they had points just to see what would happen to the quote, next renewal the companies tried to say they had points, and several different companies said the same, they had to prove they didn't.

Daughter passed test yesterday ,informed insurer ,added another £106 to the last 5 months of her policy as she is now more of a risk as no one next to her to grab the wheel or tell her what to do, taking the pish.

just done the insurance for abbie, she is 17 and has a 2002 1.4 mercedes a-class, £2490.00 fully comp, it is a lot of dosh but what else can you do!, the dearest quote on go-compare was a staggering £16,000., my first propper car was a 3.0s capri in 1988 and im sure it was around £250.00, its a never ending cycle, the more people drive uninsured the more the premiums will rise, not fair but a fact of life!
