Looking for my first fast ford........ Ireland

Hiya folks,
I'm a first timer looking to buy but haven't the foggiest where to start, what to look out for or what to pay. I'm currently driving a 1968 black beetle, sweet car but no fun, and i'm due for a change. I'm looking for inspiration. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'll need something in good nick cos i'm on a learning curve, at the bottom of it, mechanically. Thanks in advance.....
