Good shows, not just the Ford ones!

    How about something different.
I enjoy all the smaller non specific shows.
    • Wyke Down (Andover) easter time.
    • Popham car and air show (must book in)
    • Stokes Bay (Gosport) in the summer
    • Newbury race course (really good)
    • Hampshire pag. of motoring at Broadlands, Romsey (if on this year?)
    • Any local pub meets (may get a few cars out in Hampshire this summer)
    Regards, Mark

i'm the same as Gaz, i think CF is overall the best show on the calender. It doesnt have half as much "new" stuff as ford fair, granted there is some there but that doesnt bother everyone
there are PLENTY classics for the solely old skool guys. Its a good atmosphere, loads going on.

The RSE stand was what made me want a mk2 mex and i was gutted when i finally got one only to find you didnt have a stand the year after

Tim i like going to AVO day (been to about 15) but it's a small show with mostly stock museum pieces off trailers . Unless you like mostly standard spec mk1 Escorts with dustbin lid air filters and pea shooter exhausts all parked in rows surrounded by anoraks then you're in for a shock , lol .
I still like going though as it's a top venue , a nice drive up there and the sun's always out . Plus i love mk1 Escorts (even slow ones)
sigpic 2.1 ATMO YB POWER .
Tick tock goes the clock and the clock don't lie .
12.4sec to 109mph With NO turbo , NO gay trailer , NO slicks , NO gas , NO race fuel and NO bits missing . Beat that !!!!

Exactley , the Classic Ford show has everything for everyone . The biggest gathering of Retro Ford vehicles in one place and in all shapes and sizes . Packed with trade stands , auto jumble , rally stage , drag racing , drifting , concours , club displays etc etc so all bases are covered . This is what makes it the no1 show of the year by far and not to be missed , it's 10 times better than shitty Ford Fair which is packed with the new plastic turbo shite .
As for chavs , well Fords are chavs motors after all aren't they ? Hence all the chavs at Ford shows !!!!

yes there are alot of standard cars there but nearly all of them drive there shock i know and some of the ones that are trailered are competition cars,in fact i think in 09 there were more cars on trailer from here than avo memebrs

Tim there's nothing wrong with AVO day and it's a nice family day out but it's a dying breed i feel . Shows with motorsport activies are the future and the "parked up in a field" type shows will be history i feel .
Stanford Hall is a great venue and this is AVO days saving grace . Put AVO day in a normal field and it wouldn't be the same , plus without all the visiting car club displays there would only be a few cars there .

if static shows are dieing why has attendance for avo day gone up for the last 5 years by over 1/5
yes the visitin clubs make the show better but we must be doin somthing right for these club to want to come along
