As said above you can't go wrong with a Canon 400D or 450D and standard 18-55 lens to start with and then add a 70-200/300 for motorsport.Its then practice ,practice,practice to get the best out of your camera.As Grum says a bit of Photoshop can also help.
I started of with a 400D ,which I still use ,but now upgraded to a 7D and more expesive bits of glass on the front of it ( all this does is it gives me more consistent results and better photos in extreme conditions) ,however the 400D still takes a great photo if used well.
