  • RS2 wings.....how to tell if genuine or pattern

    Hi all,

I have an RS2 wing, brand new ununused...........how to tell if genuine or pattern? The stickers are gone, but you can see where they once were.

    Any tell tale signs?

Also, are pattern wings any good.....or can you get lemons i.e. really bad fit.

PS. Reminds me when I bought two RS2 wings (for the white RS in my sig) 15 years ago from a Ford garage......the place was packed and there was a long queue behind me......and so as the guy handed them over the counter my mate with me says "hey!, you don't want those ones, they're not the right colour"...............I felt 2 inches high!

    Ian.

Beware of Genuine o/s front wings !!!

When rebuilding my car the spot welds around the nosecone area
had to be drilled and re-welded as FORD had got it wrong !!!

Rumours are abound of "longer" wings from later pressings !

My theory is poor alignment of spot welds !

Simple to remedy by drilling and re-welding

Genuine wings tend to be Black primered and have a Ford sticker on it

4 bolt holes on a genuine panel.
1 on the wing rail and 3 where it meets the a post.
