    Got this today

Please be aware that as from today, Police are to issue £60.00 fixed penalty on the spot fines for people driving vehicles with snow on the vehicle roof.

See point 4 of the Highway Code rules 229 below:

    229. Before you set off:
    · You must be able to see, so clear all snow and ice from all your windows!
    · You must ensure that lights are clean and number plates are clearly visible and legible!
    · You must make sure the mirrors are clear and the windows are demisted thoroughly!
    · You must remove all snow that might fall off into the path of other road users!
    · You should check your planned route is clear of delays and that no further snowfalls or severe weather are predicted.

    Merry Xmas

What about the snow falling on your car when driving. Do you have to stop every five foot and clear it off ?

Watch your number plates are clean though, Police were stopping cars last Friday in Thatcham, Berkshire with dirty (un-readable) number plates and handing out £30 fines !!

Probably paid for their xmas party!

Just think on this, your car, or a mates car gets stolen. Later, said stolen car drives past a traffic vehicle with ANPR system. However, said ANPR system doesn't 'ping' cos you were too lazy to clean your number plate, so Mr Plod carries on eating his donut

Maybe, your family are victims of crime/involved in a crash, they say that the offence could have been witnessed by some one driving past, but they couldn't get the reg of the potential witness.

Whilst fines are rather excessive, there is always another side to ponder.

Is someone a police officer All valid points but they always seam to be just money grabbing.

Does it also mean an artic truck driver has to climb onto the top of his trailer to clear the ice/snow off that? As they are leathal but they won't get done.
