  • RSOC MK2 RS2000 Registrar - Possible Applicant

I've spoken to a few people off here to guage their opinions on this but I am now asking you (or those of you that are RSOC members) whether you think I would be suitable to and should apply for the position of MK2 RS2000 Registrar

I know there are better qualified and more knowledgeable people out there than me to do this job but for lots of reasons they either don't want to take on the role, have already done the job or are not RSOC members. I work for myself and have access to my computer and emails most of the day so time is not a problem.

Previous registrars have ensured that the MK2's have been looked after and that the records are upto date of all registered cars and I am hoping that it will be mainly an administrative job ensuring that Valuations / HPI's etc. are sorted and that if I did take on the role (and was accepted by the committee) that technical support would be available from the many knowledgeable members on here.

    Any comments are welcome

    Martin

If you have the time and the drive to do it go for it

What the club needs I would think for someone to do it for a long period, not to come in take the post on then pack it in after a couple of months.

I would say plenty of members with mk2s would support you.

Martin, knowing you as I do I would say you are the perfect person for the job. You are extremely enthusiastic, knowledgeable and most of all approachable. This traits are required to do this job imo. Having owned several rs2's and recently restoring one from the ground up I would say you have a vast amount of experience of what can go wrong with a resto.

Go for it mate, i'd back you 110%

the position needs someone, give it a go if you feel confident, registrars positions are up for re-election next year, maybe you would find out with a terms experience how you feel, as said i think most people would stick by you, and there are plenty in the club to give a helping hand etc if needed

As above really, and I feel as a long term member of the RSOC we need someone dedicated to the MK2 RS2000 model to take us forward for a good few years and promote us further throughout the club and beyond.

Oh and you got to be able to come down south and value my car

                  good luck Martin.

I have been the rs500 reg for quite a few years now and will honestly tell you there are many good points but sadly many bad points

IMO the good points far outway the bad and i get a massive amount of pleasure from doing the role and helping people

You do NOT need to know everything about the marque ( who does ) if you arnt sure then you do as i do and tell them you will find out for them , best you can do

                    Go for it mate

Ps, If you fancy a quick chat on the inns and outs please feel free to give me a call

                        Go for it Martin

A very big part of being the MKII RS2000 registrar is valuations

There are over 500 current RSOC members with MKII RS2000's on the clubs books and ALL are entitled to an RSOC valuation so your role can get very busy.

I valued 13 cars at The Lakes last year alone ! - gladly not all cars are requesting valuations though.

95% of valuation requests are from genuine owners who only require a valuation for insurance purposes BUT be warey of short term profiteers who attempt to make a quick buck from a piece of paper you have endorsed.

I even had 2 RSOC members attempt to obtain valuations for cars that miraculously had no tax no mot no history and more importantly no recent pictures (I always insisited on a National Newspaper be in many of the pictures to verify date) and the V5 wasnt in their name - just keep your wits about you and simply say no to such requests.

Also members will expect you to travel the length and breadth of the country to value their car - You are not expected by The RSOC to do this but you may wish to do this if you so desire over and above the 3 RSOC shows you are expected to attend

A minute part of the role involves buying or selling of cars/parts as almost all sales now take place via Ebay and word of mouth

All in all the role is a great position to hold within the club and if The Registrars Rep had kept his nose out of issues that were not within his remit then I would not have stepped down and would gladly still be in the role.

Again go for it - you have a strong enough personality to take on the role and assist where required

Oh and as for "knowing everything" NOBODY KNOWS EVERYTHING ! and plenty will offer you help should you need it

you'll have to get rid of that non original engine son

Martin, agree with all the above and, just go for it - everyone knows the score with these positions and im sure the little bit of shite that inevitably comes with it will bouce off your thick skin

i say go for it son. job needs someone enthusiastic for the mk2. sure you would get plenty of help off here on anything you were not sure on.

hope you wouldn't turn into a proper committee man though, and still be up for a laugh and a **** take.
