Now i've seen the pictures, I think the car is absolutely stunning - Ian you are off your trolley if you repaint that !!!!!!

In fact, my missus has just looked at the post (she knows nothing about cars) and said you would be mad to repaint such an original car in the condition it is in.

Car looks mint to me, and the colour is ok. If that's the original colour it's best to leave it that way. A real beaut!

If you change the colour then

I will ban you from this BB !

If the paint was knackered and needed a respray then OK paint it any colour u like

Repaint it as it is and regret it for the rest of your ownership of the car

Regardless of how good the bodyshop is that paints it it will never look "original" again !

          Top car btw

please, please, dont change the colour i think that as our cars get rarer and rarer its nice to see all the different colours that were avaliable, years ago when you had plenty of choice i wouldnt have bought the terracota car but its starting to grow on me.Ian i am glad you finally found the right car and i cant believe the condition(wish i had found it myself)but i hope to see it close up at some of the shows in lovely shiney beige

OK folks, i think its fair to say, in the words of Jimmy Tarbuck "we have a difference of opinion" showing my age again, i have decided definately NOT to change the colour, i think i must have been mad to consider it really, the money i will now NOT spend will go towards enhancing the car even further, there are a couple of period mods, that i would like to see on the car, however visually it will stay pretty much as it is, please just understand, ive ended up with a car, just about as far away as i could get from my original wish list, however, from all of your feedbacks, its only waterproofed my train of thought, that i have bought a really nice original car, and of course i can they say, if you wait long enough, the right car WILL come along sooner or later. again thanks for all the comments..... now, wheres that shopping list.

Glad you came round to our way of thinking Ian...if the car is straight and original then the colour doesn`t matter too much.
Now for those mods... i can recommend 5 pseed box for starters then good head, cam and maybe 44idf`s, bigger brakes and uprated suspension. And the car can still look standard but will drive miles better.
But keep the original parts so can be changed back easy.
                  What do ya think?

Ders Hi, firstly, i would like a N/S remote mirror, personally i think it balances the cars appearance, always wanted one, not sure about the 5 speed, dont want any engine mods, would like to have the car sit just a little lower, polybush the whole car, uprate suspension and brakes, and definately a lovely set of sevens !!, having said that about the engine mods, your bay looks superb with the 44,s and those alu top mounts, i think i,m more into keeping the thing looking tasteful, subtle even, let the car do the talking, so to speak, oh, and i need a P21 !!

Matt, i put an ad in CF about six months ago, had a couple of people ring, no good though, then about two months later a guy rang telling me about his car, being honest when i asked colour etc, i was going to put the phone down, then the positives came, no sunroof, no speakers, owned for, now i know 22 years, for some reason i thought it was 15 first of all, every mot from new etc and i started to think, this sounds like a proper car, a couple of visits down there, haggled abit over a stupid amount of money, then put pride to one side and bought it, i honesty just think, the way these things are going at the moment, you just dont know when a really nice car is going to come along, that alone ever, and how much will you have to pay then ? thats about it really
