I got TREND MICRO when I recently purchased laptop from Best Buy store in Hedge End. Under 20 Quid so not bad, no troubles with it.
Well worth a look at that store which is up the road from B&Q.

Had AVG but had problems after it upgraded, so now have Avast.
Been fine so far.

Just a bit of advice don't install two av scanners on the one pc it'll hammer your machine. That includes security essentials just pick one or the other

Go the Security Essentials route as it has both antivrus and anti spyware in one program, if you stick with Avast you will need additional software such as SpyBot or Malwarebytes to take care of spyware nasties As above, you shouldn't have two antivirus programs on your PC.

i have 2 running fine, even had 3 before but depends on ram and cpu speeds, otherwise it will slow thing down

They'll both be competing to scan each file simultaneously which slows disk io down considerably and can also cause file corruption . Try running a benchmarking program on your machine then turn off the second av scanner and run it again you'll see disk access speeds shoot up. Then again you might have a 15k drive in your pc if you do then can I have it
