Worthy of its own thread, and no doubt Grum and co will post many may pictures of the evening
Fantastic to see Kev Cannon, Greg Lee, Frosticles, AndyC, Gabe C, Dave1800 BDA, Grum and a few others make the very very long journeys to attend, leaving just after the end with 3-4 hour journeys in front of them, hope you enjoyed it lads.
The evening was 'filmed' by Ralio, therefore will be on next thursday 14th, no doubt some of the above will be 'on screen' as the cameras were everywhere.
Myself and (off here) ChrisP were the 'meeters and greeters' for the evening in the VIP lounge, i must admit even i was a little Starstruck by the amount of 'names' that were arriving, amazing, and it was great to catch up with old friends, aquaintences and idols.
It really was an amazing evening
Many thanks to Martin Leonard (McTaff) and Mark Griffin and their respective partners / helpers, and also for allowing some of the lads off here to sample the atmosphere in the VIP area, much appreciated. Similarly, thanks to some of those lads who also helped with a few things, collecting glasses, empty bottles, rubbish and so on, again much appreciated.
It goes without saying that with such attendee's as (get ready for this) John Davenport, David sutton, Phil Collins, Russell Brooks, Barry 'whizzo' Williams,David Llewellin, Mike Broad, Peter Bryant, John horton, Hannu Mikkola, Ari Vatanen / Rita Vatanen and many others, there was bound to be a favourite, and i am not exagerating when i say it took at least an hour and a half for Ari Vatanen to make any meaningfull progression in to the VIP area, he was quite literally swamped by press, media fans, fellow competitiors, and he was absolutely 100% superb and had time for everyone, a true gent.
On stage, the talks were a delight, again Ari received huge applause and the crowd hung onto every word, of special mention was the letter read out at the end in recognition of the support John Thomas gave to Ari all those years ago.
Howard Davies was on top form, auctioning anything that happened to be to hand, and £2,000 was raised for the Wales Air ambulance, and also present on stage were Hannu's Quattro, Ari's escort (LAR), Barry's Welsh rally winning Mine, and outside many others including russels rally winning Manta.
I doubt such an evening will be experienced again, and look forward to the Pictures that will follow,
