gutted for you mate.just a long shot but maybe the police can sort through the ANPR that they have dotted about the place.there must be some on that main road.i dont know how it works but if they can get the number off that lorry which looks visible they could get the number from the next plate that goes through.saying that the passat probably has false plates.

As everyone said in preveous posts i am gutted for you.It reminds me of the late 70s and 80s when you could,nt leave one of these cars wihout fear of it been stolen. i think what we should all agree to do in the future is when we see an escort on the highway being towed we should try and get a pic of the reg no of the towing vehicle. Well done to the guy who took the pic but i bet he is saying to himself. IF ONLY i had a suspicous mind

It makes me sick to think this is happening too often now!

As a protective measure if i see any RS on a trailer i will take a photo of it if possible. Just in case.

I hope she is found. We need to keep eyes and ears peeled.

It may disappear and then parts turn up later.

The thieves will probably be well aware of the coverage on this stolen car and it could well be in storage until the heat dies down. Once that happens, it may well be moved at night especially now the darker nights are here, to a place where it can be stripped (unless it hasn't been already )

So, in a week, 2 weeks, or even more, when they feel comfortable to move it, they will. SO BE VIGILANT and IF SEEN DIAL 999 but it is recommended not to get involved, but to follow at a safe distance if possible.

A media press release had the last one stolen in North Wales recovered within a few days........hopefully this has been done and fingers crossed for the same success.

I've done the same and over 100 of my friends on there have shared the link/picture hopefully it will jog someones memory or get others to keep their eyes open.

There will be a few of us on here feeling just the same as you when a car goes missing like this, and with a few changes the chances of our beloved cars going missing could hopefully be reduced.

Maybe this will help. First make sure your car is insured. Second go back to your garage then assume you are a thief and try to think how you could pinch your own car. Think of anything to slow you down or prevent you from getting in or stop you from removing the car, then make the changes accordingly. If you can improve the security you may start to feel a little easier about it. Think about things like how you can immobilise your car, scare them away or at least slow them down. Security should really be an on going though....always think of how you can improve it.

When my RS is eventually on the road I fully intend using it daily My garage is fullly secure - alarm CCTV etc but the danger is leaving it parked up so I was thinking of having a Tracker fitted. Can anyone share any experience of these? Pros? Cons? I understand if chaps don't want to go into detail about their own cars but don't want to spend out if they are no good. Or has this discussion already been had?

Just been discussing this over on the AVO Club BB (as a result of this particular car theft) and seems a few on there have had them fitted, I was assured it is possible to hide one in a MK1 Escort.

Seems it's possible to have a one off payment as well.

Looking at their website the tracker uses VHF signals so can be found in locked garages etc.

these ****ers are going to some lengths just now.spoke to boy who had his low mileage escort cos nicked a few weeks ago its never out in locked garage with alarms immobilsers etc .they didnt start it took one of the garage windows out took the door hinges off from inside with spaneers all through the night too .the big guys gutted too
