Ford R.S.O.C. The very beginnings..............
To celebrate the 30th Anniversary, there will be live forums throughout the day from the PA centre situated just at the top of the entrance road, opposite the Manor house.
These forums will chart the history of all things RS throughout the 1960’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90, 00 and up to the modern day Focus RS500
The group interview, co ordinated by Graham John (President, Ford RSOC) will be conducted by (Author and historian) Graham Robson) and will feature the following:
11.00 am – 12.00 noon R.S.O.C. begins................
Interviews with ex chairmen, secretaries, prominent members, life members and Committee members from thirty years of RSOC
To celebrate the thirtieth anniversary for the Ford R.S.O.C is a special anniversary group interview with RS legends from Ford motor company charting the very beginnings from AVO / Boreham through to the Cosworth turbocharged era and culminating in the RS road cars of today. Collectively, they provide the link from the very first Escort RS to the very latest Focus RS500
12.45 pm – 1.45 pm ‘Old’ Ford
Stuart Turner Ford of Britain competition manager (Boreham), Stuart led Ford to many famous victories including the London – Mexico rally and introduced the RS2000 mk1 and Mexico mk1. In more recent years, Stuart was appointed Director of Motorsport, Ford of Europe where he helped pioneer such cars as the Sierra Cosworth, the RS500, the RS200 and finally approval for the Escort RS Cosworth
Mick Jones Probably the most well known (and colourful character) of all the Boreham staff Mick was long time car builder and on event mechanic for the late great Roger Clark. Mick was largely responsible for the building of the Works Escorts mk1 and mk2 and became the senior rally engineer at the height of the Escorts success.
Barry Reynolds Barry was at Ford for Forty years and was part of the original group that chose the name ‘Rallye Sport’ and was one of the first people to join the AVO at south Ockenden. Barry then spent over 30 years split between PR management in Ford motor sport and in Central PR arranging RS car launches for the press.
2.30pm – 3.30 pm New’ Ford
Roger Allen Former R.S.O.C. President Roger Allen spent 26 years at Ford motor company in the product marketing sector and was hugely influential in the marketing of RS models of the 1990’s. Roger also spent some time at Boreham competitions department, and latterly ran the Ford motorsport programme. Long term R.S.O.C Ally, Roger is now general manager at Mountune and heavily involved in the current Team AON Ford focus BTCC campaign.
John Wheeler Joined Ford in 1980 and led the team at Boreham on the RS1700T, RS200, and the Escort Cosworth, John also had a spell at SVE to help usher the models into production, and in recent years John has been heavily involved in the New Ford Focus RS
Tony Dixon ex Team RS business manager, Tony has been with Ford Motor company for over 30 years and has been influential in the Ford presence here today and is the current Motor sport business manager for Ford. Tony has been active in many aspects of the Ford RS brand over the years and shares the passion and knowledge of all things Ford RS.
