Low oil pressure is not good. Pity the pump wasn't knackered!
Interesting to find out what it is?

Yeah, might be worth a chat. Thanks.

Tomorrow is the day (I think) that I will pull the engine out as the builder wants it on Monday.

              Hope it gets sorted

Been using valvoline racing 20/50 vr1. Never had pressure issues with it before?

Is it low oil pressure at tick over or at higher rpm?

Hi Wayne, When the engine is started from cold, it takes a good 5 or 6 seconds for the gauge to register anything at all. It then slowly creeps up to just over half way and stays there be it from cold or hot On tick over though it really struggles to stay above the red again, be it hot or cold. Set tickover to 1200rpm as it hates anything below that LOL. When revs drop to below 1000rpm, pressure drops into the red.
Put another gauge on it Monday (Electronic one) and it just reads the same as the original, Never goes above 55psi and drops to below 20 on tick over.

can you try dropping the sump off and putting a shim(well washer) under the spring?done this on last yb and was fine mate.a batch of cosworth yb pumps had issues with wrong spring tension could be the same type of thing

Could well be. When the engine was built, The pump had new internals in. I will insist on a brand new one now.
