My Mrs has a 57 plate cooper. Was 12k from dealer with 11k miles. Options fitted are Chilli pack (xenon lights, half leather), panoramic sunroof, 17inch wheels, with some interior detail. Plus 5 year servicing.
Go for the 2007 model onward as they have an all alloy engine (peugeot) with low emissions (tax is £90 for a year), better economy (motoway 52mpg ish, 47 overall.
Goes well and handles very well. Have now fitted a Scorpion exhaust and kn filter. Seems more responsive now.
Deffinately recommend one.Comment

Cooper s on my list for "The Wife" , in next twelve mths or so!
Loads out there for your budget, similar to mine!
I'm also considering a golf gti mk5(not super mini), she has a mk1 tt with 270 bhp at moment, getting a bit old although miles are low + fancy a change!
Other option is the last fiesta st, just something about the mini and the high spec ones have shed loads of gear! Mod target on roof and mirrors for me lol!

just got the misses a mini cooper, she loves it.
couldnt justify the extra exspense on petrol. tax etc for the cooper s.
drove my m8's john works cooper s the other week - lovely
