You could get a lot of Audi A6 Estate for small money. Depends how much you want to spend, under 2K is good something like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/a6-tdi-avant-1...Automobiles_UK

    or

Why do we pay others to do a job we did ourselves?

    Ever paid for conveyancing?

Why not try a shogun or pajero, Cheap enough to run , bulletproof and bombproof and will tow anything no probs
Just a thought for you to consider

To tow a big caravan you need either a big petrol engined vehicle or a diesel.. Why not try a v8 Disco on LPG ? or 4.0 jeep on LPG..

My inlaws bought a x-trail but its a 2.0 petrol, and when I towed their caravan the other week it was gutless and very embarrasing... lol

I used to have a Alfa 156 2.4 JTD, chipped to 170 bhp/360lb torque, it pulled very very well, just ask Richie !

I tow a small caravan with an Audi A4 avant sport .Most of the time you would not know the caravan was on.

                      Tow cars

Dependes on how much disposable income you have to spend.I tow a large German Caravan all over Europe with a Kia Sorento XT ,Bought it new in Cyprus 3 years ago, saved over 8.5 K, and its brilliant.24MPG towing, bit less on Cruise, but well on top of the job and easy tower.OH just remember to turn off the ESC off when towing!!!!!

I regularly tow a car & trailer with my Galaxy 1.9 diesel.

Apart from some overheating issues on one journey ( on the way to Cumbria for the Lakes tour) it's fantastic. The overheating was due to me having it in cruise & 6th gear at 60mph - labouring the engine.

It returns low 40mpg for day to day use.
                        Cheers Rob.

GOOD FOR TOWING, CHEEP TO MAINTAIN AND A GOOD STEP UP FROM THE MONDEO!

PMSL, ALSO GREAT FOR THE LAKES, AS YOU LIKE SITTING(OR FALLING INTO) FIRES!

My Volvo powered Focus ST is the best tow car I've had in 17 years of caravaning, pulls like a train, not too bad mpg when towing, just not much difference in fuel when solo
