Trolley Jack Problem.

Was changing the front two tyres so jacked up on the front cross member.
Took both fronts off, but before i left the garage thought that the trolley looked a bit dangerous with the handle sticking out the front of the car. So I removed the handle and threw it at my arse where no-one could trip over it.

Tonight I went and put my new tyes on, well pleased, job, done.
Went to let down the trolley jack and realised the bit that the handle goes into has sprung straight up inbelow the front spoiler.

Big problem. I can't pull it down as I've no leverage and if I chisel the trolley gearing to let the handle down the upright handle spud will crush the front spoiler.

Just went off in a huff and kicked the cat.

use a rachtet in the hole just enough to lever it down then put the handle back in

i have done this as well i went and borrowed another jack and jacked it up enough to release the original jack.

This actually just might work. My Rachet has a funny plastic mold on the handle but the T bar might well go in, in place of the handle.

another jack I recon otherwise you might do some damage, I bet you wont do it again though (well hopefully not) stick a couple of stands in next time

Done this loads of times cos I'm stupid and haven't learnt !

Get a short handled screw driver with a wide blade. Insert it into where your jack handle fits and release the valve. (in exactly the same way the trolley jack handle does)

Yep, been there done that before If you dont have access to another jack try and get a flat head screwdriver doon the hole and a wee turn anticlockwise to open the valve should let the puppy down gently. You can do it so far on to a stand and then reset the jack again so the handle part is out of the way of the front spoiler before you let it back on to the deck again. Job done m8.

Sorted indeed.
Couldn't get anything to replace the handle satisfactorily and couldn't be arsed to go and borrow another jack so put some pieces of wood in the gap below the tyres so that when I released the jack the spoiler wouldn't be damaged.
Everything worked 100% and the car came down onto the pieces of wood.
Then I pulled the jack out, then I realised I hadn't originally put the handbrake on and the car rolled backwards off the wood and into the garage door.
So now I have a door to straighten

Thankfully the door is made of cheese and absorbed all the impact so no damage to the car.

Never easy this lark.
