  • It Lives!!!!

Put a new battery on tonight and after a few slow cranks it fired, good oil pressure straight away, a few leaks around the cam cover but that doesn't matter......after more than five years it lives again.
No big rebuild just a lack of funds and inclination, new hoses, new alternator, new cam, valve seals, followers (some may say that's not before time after an inlet fell off after a 0-60 run ), felpro gaskets, refurbed carbs, ripped out various non functioning alarms / immobilisers, repaired the loom, the rest of the jobs will now get done as the sound of a pair of 45's warbling away is enough inspiration to get me going again!
The wife had been out and when she came in wanted to know why I was smiling so much so I threw her the keys and she went into the garage and turned it over....she sh1t herself when it fired up and turned it straight off, she'd forgot how loud it is. The second time she left it ticking over and said "that noisy tw@t down the road with the twin system on his 106 is going to get a shock now!".......too right, I can't wait for an early start to get to a late summer show.

Thanks for the comments, still got to mount up a fuel tank and look at the brakes etc as the thing hasn't moved a wheel in anger for over six years so I'm bound to find a few more issues before it's back on the road. I have to admit that I had been toying with selling it but it's the only thing that I came out of my divorce with (that and the clothes I was wearing). Now I'm finally getting back on my feet after 10 years of what I can only describe as often testing times, helped by the new woman in my life . The car was put on the back burner, so far back in fact it was used as a storage shelf for various things over the years ranging from plant pots to the odd wardrobe clear out, I always kept it covered up and dry though so body wise it's not so bad apart from a few blisters that have come through. I'll keep you informed of the progress.
