  • How many Twin Cams left

Hi all, brand new to the forum.
After 20 or so years away from sporting escorts I'm beginning to get cravings to own one again. Not quite sure what one exactly or even Mk1 or 2 but it will preferably be one of the rarer cars (i'm not in a hurry!) I know of an escort twin cam not far from me which has not been on the road in years and the guys had it since new! Does anyone know how many of these are still around and what sort of money they are worth? Any help appreciated.

    thanks

    Hi Iain

There are still quite a few Twin Cams around & the prices do vary quite a lot.
There are plenty of pretend ones around too.

A nice original one owner car will always comand a good price.
I have a feeling I may know the car you are on about.

Prices £10,000 will get you a project car & £30,000 plus will get a real nice car.
Anything between those two prices can be a minefield.

i posted a question about a twin cam about 18 months ago, a twin cam in morecambe that i had my eye on for years sliped through my fingers, it was arched and had sort of strange front spoiler, it needed a full restoration and i think it may have been bought by a trader near glasson dock called paul andrews, he quickly moved it on,my question was just out intrest i wonder where it went? i think it sold for around £8000.

But it would be breaking with tradition if you had a car that did not break down afte 90 miles

Being arched & having a strange front spoiler would narrow it down.
But if it's not known to the club or had a classified advert with pictures, it will stay unknown to most.
£8000 seems reasonably cheap when there are a couple of project cars currently for sale at around £14000.

Do you know what the reg number was..? I think I may have asked on your old post.

I know of one thats been in a garage for about 25 years and the fella will not sell it, mind you it would be a full resto job even if he did sell.
Why do we pay others to do a job we did ourselves?

                  Ever paid for conveyancing?

make sure nobody knows where it is and get loads of security on it.
