  • Toyo 888's

Gotta say for a road tyre they are stunning...

I did a few sessions in the wet at croft on 1 bar of boost and had full grip - better than the last set of T1S's I had...

So much grip in both the dry and wet - defo worth the money

Whilst I use Michelin race slicks wherever possible some circuits do not allow slicks so its then 888's everytime wet or dry

Tried many types of road tyres and for me the Toyo 888 is spot on

Soon to be banned so best get stock piling . Think it's in 2012 that all road tyres need to clear a minimum water level per revolution . R888's are shite at clearing standing water so if you hit a deep puddle at speed then you will aquaplane into a ditch . Also the rubber cracks/perishes under zero degress and the tyre can fall too bits !!!!! There was a warning about it on Toyo's web site a while back , probably aimed at the U.S. market as some sort of disclaimer incase someone sued them .

Gaz it looks like it is a Labelling Excercise and not a Construction requirements - http://www.fiabrussels.com/en/news/a...d_noise_01.htm

The label is to allow the end user decide what they want from their tyre

ie/ quiet or good water dispersal etc etc

The construction requirements for water dispersal is stated as being at a certain level for Vehicles being "Type Approved" after 01/12/2012 - EC REGULATION 661/2009

So my old 1979 smoker aint included so 888's all the way

There was also a news snippet in EVO magazine a while back saying all trackday rubber is to be banned due to it's poor water dispersal . If i remember correctly it said that they will not even be allowed to produce any treaded tyre that does not meet a certain water displacement level even if it's aimed at low volume track cars etc .
We'll have too wait and see but R888's etc etc will be axed if it's true .
