American heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio, who replaced Ozzy Osbourne in Black Sabbath, has died at the age of 67, his wife and manager have said. Dio had been suffering from stomach cancer.
Before joining Black Sabbath he sang in Rainbow - formed when Ritchie Blackmore left Deep Purple - and later in Heaven & Hell and the self-titled band Dio.
Dio's wife Wendy paid a loving tribute to her husband on his website, saying: "Today my heart is broken."
She said her husband had passed away on Sunday morning.
saw them at the nec 87 i think, supported by slayer or anthrax, great show, saw slayer in cardiff that year, blew anthrax off the stage, just goes to show we all get old and die, just make sure you have a good motherfcuking time before you do
Not good news, Heaven & Hell were supposed to be touring UK in July!
Another one bites the dust, ironic that cancer got him after he survived the heady days...
Say Hi to Bon, Ronnie

I saw slayer and megadeth down here last year. never really been into slayer but they went right off and blew megadeth offstage even with a lead singer with no voice......They just got fans up from the audience....I saw the best version of dead skin mask down by a fan.
after the concert I went out and bought a bunch of the back catalog.....good driving music....now converted to a slayer fan.
