Non Motorway route to the Lakes.

Anyone interested in a "Non Motorway" route to the Lakes?? Notts lot will probably be doing this. Route from.....

Mansfield - Chesterfield - A617
Chesterfield - Sheffield - A6102
Sheffield - Skipton - A61/A628/A629
Skipton - Kendal - A65

The Skipton to Kendal road looks a good one which follows the Settle to Carlisle route. Much better than droning down the bloody M6

PMSL. Just using AA route planner. Much safer than me programming the Sat Nav.

watch out for the caravanners on the A65!....and,as it's a v popular route for bikers...the plod!

If you've time..suggest a stop off at Devil's Bridge, in Kirby Lonsdale!

I live at Skipton A65 is very good road will be going that way my self on the Saturday morning BUT LOOK OUT FOR THE PLOD unmarked grey golf and 3 subarus and unmarked bike too.

Think Im going to give this one a miss and stick to the motorway , will be doing enough non motorway driving on the saturday , and will use a lot less fuel going up the m6 , the 40 mk2's on the motorway is an awesome sight too
