  • help / advise please.

i want to pick a car up from somerset ( i live in north yorkshire) but the car in question is not taxed. the v5 is in the owners name but not insured and kept locked up in a garage. Does anyone know or any suggestion (legal) way
    of bringing the vehicle home.

can i insure the car on a cover note and go into post office and tax it with the v5 in the old / previous owner and give a valid mot certificate which the car as ?

can you hire a car transporter and drive the vehicle on to but I cant find anyone who hires this type of vehicle.

get the old owner too tax it for you if you take the v5 to the post office and as long as its filled out proper they should tax it for you they will then send the v5 off for you

Have you got a car with a tow bar and can borrow a car trailer ??

Plenty of rally boys up your way that would have trailers availabe for a small fee I would have thought.

If you have insurance & the car is MOT'd then you can tax the car using the new keeper slip from the logbook, given to you when you buy the car.

andys right, providing you have the v5 filled in with the new details of owner, insurance cert and mot then you can tax it at any post office..
they will then send the book away for you..
exactly what i had to do with the blue car
