Any mk1/2 Escort with a real 200+bhp N/A engine will push a 350-400bhp turbo car over the line without any so-called drag racing mods . We do it every meet !!!!!!
    Your soo fast Gaz

Are you going to Mass on sunday??

    Were hoping to make it.

yeah mine has 400lb rear springs on the back and a 3.44 final drive with massive wheels - not a good combination and my fastest is 11.8 @ 126 and its setup for the track

200bhp pintos in lighter stripped out cars will run 11's as well . So according to a clock there's not that much difference between a 200bhp pinto and a 350bhp turbo car in a head to head race off the lights . Atmo power sounds better though !!!!!
sigpic 2.1 ATMO YB POWER .
Tick tock goes the clock and the clock don't lie .
12.4sec to 109mph With NO turbo , NO gay trailer , NO slicks , NO gas , NO race fuel and NO bits missing . Beat that !!!!

Ours are set up for the street so slower than if they were set up for the track (with half the car missing and wide grippy tyres etc) .
We run ours on hard suspension as they are lowered alot and this stops the 175mm wide tyres rubbing . Not very good for traction but they look good beating Audi RS4's and V8 M3's !!!!

i do get it but put it this way...

put a harris car on dono and see how many times it gets lapped in a 20 minute session...

speed over the 1/4 means nothing to me as it has no corners

lol , all the trackday lovers say that . They don't like acceleration as they think it slows them down on tracks . They also think that in order to go around corners fast you can't go fast in a straight line as well .
A stripped out lightweight 200bhp pinto will be just as rapid around a track as it's much easier to drive fast compared to a turbo with it's whoooooooosh bang power delivery . If you swopped your turbo engine for mine you would go faster around tracks and that's 100% certain , even with 200bhp less !!!!!

pmsl - i love the pod but i know my car doesn't do well there due to how i have set it up....

the norris motorsport sunbeam has the same engine different blower and hammers me on the pod as its a sprint car setup for launching and sprints...

Mine is setup for track, has massive brakes on it...

give you an example i can pull 155 mph down the back staight of dono and make the esses cause i can stop, how can acceration slow you down on track thats utter shite as you need it to pull you out the corners what you dont need on track is 0-60 cause you dont go that slow.

Trust me making a mk2 go 140mph through craner curves and still make the old hairpin a few 100m later takes a lot more doing than sticking your car on a 1/4 mile straight line were handling and brakes are not a factor

I beg to differ if you can hold 200bhp on boost round a corner your faster than a 200bhp car and then you have another 300 to pull you out the bend
Only downside to a turbocharged mk2 over a NA one, with a Turbo you have to know how to drive it

Dingy i'm not knocking your trackday fun or your car in any way , shape or form BUT you said that a 200bhp Pinto is too slow compared to your turbo cosworth machine . The clock says otherwise though as even after a 1/4mile of straight road you're only 0.2secs quicker than a normal all steel and glass windowed , fully trimmed Escort with 175mm tyres on it !!!!!! Not that slow then are they ?
