So firstly how much per day is it now costing to store these vehicles - At tax payers expense of course.

And Secondly I wonder how much of this scrappage scheme actually benefitted british workers / industry ? Should have limited it to only cars built in Britain ? Oh sorry were bloody europeans now !!

Another ill thought out policy of a goverment that have destroyed what was left of our once great nation.

          Rant over

what a fooooooooooking waste of money

i bet most of those cars are in good condition and would do alot of people a good turn then you get something worth while like the boiler scrappage scheme which was getting dangerous inefficient boilers out of peoples houses and creating work has stopped already after only 4 months because the goverment have run out of money spent it all storing perfectly good motors

                  We're a nation of Happy Re-Cyclers aren't we?

I've been against this all along...really makes my blood boil...what a ***king waste. A lot of these cars are lovely and well kept which would make excellent first cars for our children to have.....but there are going to be less for them to choose from leaving plenty of the usual crap to be bought.

I was brought up to appreciate having things and to look after them so they would last. They are teaching everyone to be extravegant, to be wasteful and to throw good stuff away....what sort of country are we living in....it's insane.

The people that have traded these decent cars in can afford to change anyway, but the ones without the money running the old smokers have still got them! How many british built cars have been sold because of this?.......my neighbour has just bought a Kia people carrier with his.

Oh and when can I have a government funded scrappage scheme for my service/retail business to get me through the recession?

                  Tim.

                    I scrapped a '96 Fiesta encore.
It had been in the family since new and only had 40K on the clock.
Not mint but needed nothing. A real sound runner.
It was such a crime to let it go. In reality it was only worth about £400 so I couldn't pass the oppertunity up. I reckon I got about £1400 for it thu scappage.
The new Zetec has done a massive 400 miles since Nov!

I don't know why the government picks certain areas to prop up and yet lets others fail?

Farming is another classic. We used to get paid to grow certain crops. They abolished that and now just pay us the same for owning the land?? Mental!
