not really any cheaper now to run a denzel , as the price of diesel is quite a bit more per litre than petrol , i know you get more mpg from the diesel but its costing more to fill it up

A VW PD150 engine would be nuts in a MK2. With a re-map, 200bhp and over 300 foot pounds of torque in a car that weighs nowt. All from an 8 valve diesel engine.......................................

Frosticles: All from an 8 valve diesel engine
I think the PD VW Diesel engines are actually 16v

            Non-PD Diesel are still 8v

But your right A PD150 Diesel out of a Golf GTI with a chip would be fantastic (apart from the noise)

I used to work for a German Tuning Place that specialised in tuning up Diesels and turbo conversions. Once a Golf GTI PD150 Diesel had a chip in it (not that it wasnt quick without one), the thing was scary to drive, pinned you back in your seat.

I only said to Paul last night he should put a VW Golf GT TDi setup in his mk2 van.

All VW PD engines that were fitted to the MK4 were 8 valve 1.9 units. I work with them so should know The new MK5 PD Engines are indeed 16 valve so could be confused there. As for the PD150, I have one of these with a re-map to 200bhp. A snorter of a car that is truly terrifying in the wet without traction switched on. Good for sub 7 seconds 0-60 and sub 15 second 1/4 mile.

ahh but where to put the tank? as the spare wheel well of a mk2 escort aint the safest place to put a 42litre tank full gas , nearly as safe as putting it where the petrol tank is :cheese:
