But how many post 72 through to pre 85 cars are still on the roads - just how much revenue will actually be lost, I suspect it isn't that much in the grand scheme of things. Having said that I too do not see anything changing sadly.

Hey Just an idea for the hard up government,, do it like souther Ireland any vehicle over 30 years old £30 VED (tax).So from 1972 its £30 up to 1980 ??

Will The Conservatives be reinstating the "Historic" Tax free status for vehicles when they attain 25 years old ?
Labour stopped this for cars registered post 1973 - I hope you will re-instate the rolling 25 year ruling and give a little something to many potential Conservative voters.

I think this is a nice idea Dave but I don't think any of them will want to introduce this when you consider all the taxes that are inflicted upon car owners. They just appear to hate cars and are too busy trying to save the planet!
