    i think u only get the 5 days grace, if you have the reminder and tax it without a break from the last tax, so you can buy it on the 31st at 11;30, you wont get the disc but you have 5 days as you bought it before it run out.

    i'm going the post office 1st thing thursday morning.

      I was told by the lady at my local post office that if vehicle is on sorn you can't tax more than 2 days before it is due to start.

        tax dosen't have to be taxing i tried last year ended up going to the post office on the 1st ive booked thursday off hope this weather sorts its self out

          taxed mine 2day and the lady said you can only tax a car 2days be 4 the end off the month .. she said i can drive my car right away the only thing is that up here in scotland is it is ****in it down all day

            glad to see most of you lads are supporting the post office by taxing your car there.the disc is much better lookin hand written than that computor stamp crap.

              Why can't you just do it online on the 1st?
              The car will be taxed from then, even if you don't have a disc to stick on your windscreen.
              You guys make it sound like the computer system stops at the end of the month.

                      Taxed 2 of my cars today. The mk1 RS2000 was 48 Euros for the year (vintage)
                      The mk5 RS2000 was 340 Euros for 6 months.
                      I will have to wait another 12 years for the mk5 to qualify for the vintage rate. See ye at the Lakes in the mk1.

                        Done today!!!. one hundred and twelve pounds and seventy five f****ing pence.Annd to rub it up a bit more petrol up by two pence a litre today (suprise f****ing suprise) not one pence.. Its about time we started acting like the french and start setting fire to a few things.

                                Yep I was shocked when I taxed mine today...an extra sh***y £8 for Mr Brown when really we should be getting it for free due to classic status!
