Hi Gaz, the car looks ace!
Make sure you've got some decent security on it.

    Are the pads new?
In which case you need to bed them in & they will rubbish until you flatten the surfaces - just go and do alot of braking (check the mirrors first!) and that might help.

I have had a few different combos (now running highspec 275mn / 6 pot, with mintex 1144) and they are always rubbish for the first few days!

thanks again for the comments everyone, ( thanks also for the pm regarding the number ) will give hime a call - and guess after i back bleed them tomorrow night as the easy bleed did not work - i should take advice and try to bed them in as everything is still new its just scary going out with what i would call no brakes - last thing i want to do is put a mark on the car never mind a crease !!!!!!!

cheers guys and expect to see you all on the tour ! will be there somehow ! might have to ditch the nice things like getting the car fully carpeted etc so more effort can go into sorting out mechanically.

When you buy all new you just expect it to work - but i guess you cant buy knowledge and experience - just booze and expensive parts

If you have no brakes, then defo more than bedding them!

Quite agree, it takes forever to iron out the niggles. Get the mechanics done and then you can worry about the nice bits later - ps. ear plug fitting is alot easier than carpets! ;>

That is the most acurate fact I have seen on here to press!
The standard of sh!te that suppliers are selling is beyond belief. Standard stuff can be got hold of reasonably easy and usually fits. See 'performance' stuff, it makes me seeth

The car looks sweet gaz, more pics required!!!!

Good luck with the brakes. Is it a road car or are you thinking of tracking it? I put some Mintex 1144 pads in mine recently and could tell the difference immediately, much better initial bite and never faded once on a track day at Anglesey... and mines only got m16's on vents with no servo! You dont need mega power brakes on a road mk1 IMO, just match up your components to your needs, easy to get sucked in by the ad's!

Hope you get it sorted, well done with the build

lol , nothing like shelling out £££'s on something and then having to take a grinder and blow lamp to it so it fits is there ?!!!!!
