  • we bought another mk2!

we got a another mk2 today.

i heard about this one by a text message from a mate whos dad works with a guy who was selling a one owner very low milage 1.3 L more door mk2 that was originally supplied by mogil motors here in oban and it wasnt very far away. i got the number and gave it phone.
it turned out that the car was his aunties and that its been garaged all its life and haddnt moved or run in 3 years.........i made an offer and left it with them to think about.
i think they asked me more questions about what i was going to do with it than i asked them about the car lol.

its a totally original car. its only got 21,000 miles its never been painted or had any welding ( good old zeibart ) the back seat has never been sat on and it still has the remains of the factory plastic seat covers and parcel shelf cover  both the front tyres and the spare are the originals and as far as i can see the only other things that have been changed are the steering rack for its last mot in 2001 and a new exhaust.

anyway after a few more phone calls and texts due to an ill family member of theirs its finally here

all im going to do to it is clean it and get it road legal. we will be doing the lakes tour with it too lol fiona likes it soo much i think i will just let her have it for her own mk2.
i'll get more pics in the next few days

i was always needing the 5th gear with the mex since it still has its 4 speed box but with a 3:89 diff.

i gave "effie" ( fiona named it not me! ) a bit of a wash and another clear out of stuff left be the original owner last night and shes not come up to bad, its still to get a polish and a hoover out though.

                            heres some more pics.

the remains of the factory rear seat cover can be seen in the above pic

fiona might want to keep the front seat covers on just for "the look" lol

i put it up on the ramp to check for rust and theres only a couple of spots hear and there nothing to worry about. i need to clean up the brakes just because its been stood then it should be mot'd by the end of the week.

i wish i could find a 2 dr in this condition
