We used to blow things up with Sodium Chlorate & Sugar ……… You did have to be quick though.
Don`t mess with me on the Lakes Tour
Yep my next door neighbour used to make these and I supplied the copper pipe to put it in, left over from my Dad's central heating installation.
We also made guns which shot matches, which had silver paper wrapped around the head ends. The pivoted trigger of the gun had a lit candle on the end of it which heated up the match which fired out of the gun. It had quite a delayed action and did not fire very straight or far for that matter. There were plans to go and declare war on one of the estates, but I did not bother to turn up as I did'nt think we had a chance.
Yep I remember the white poo too.....was not a problem when you trod in it........good old days they were.
Brilliant, brought back fond memories reading that.
Playing marbles on the green, and closest to the wall at school with 2p piece.
Joining up two bolts, one nut and swan vesta in the middle and whack on the ground to make a loud bang (loudest in the school corridor).
Going round the building sites and collecting the Corona™ bottles with 2p return, then buying those sweets with the little red fish that curled up in the palm of your hand.
