About time we got round to organising something on the show front, Lakes Tour at the start of the season, how about a Rallyesportescorts National Day towards the end, but when its warm

I would even be willing to offer my services as a judge

Simple classes for fun not for pot hunters

get custom to have it at drayton manor large area plus theme park for the kids blackcountry rs owners never got round to haveing it there ,great venue

Cheltenham Race Course would be a good venue. Masses of space with camping available and only 4.5 miles from junction 11 of the M5.
Congregate on the Saturday afternoon/evening. A short run out through the lovely Cotswolds on Sunday morning followed by drive and shine type show in the afternoon.
The world famous Prescott Hill Climb is only about 6 miles away so a trip up there on Sunday morning would be good too.

Was talking to the Chairman of the Lotus Sunbeam owners club at the RaceRetro show this weekend and there having their National Day at Curbourgh at the beginning of September....
He asked if any Mk2's would be intersted in atteneding...
What if we approached them to do a joint National Day.... just an idea

probly best to tag it onto a existing show to save on costs !! and from a personal point of veiw,i little closer to the south of england would make a change !! or even link it with the avo nationals,they always have nice weather ?..

Don't think we would be able to accomodate it Wayne.....we have 2 great days packed already planned for driving the cars on 11 / 12 Sept 2010.

is there a limit to how many cars can get into avo day for the display ?

cannot negotiations start with them to make a fuller day of it for the mk2 - the avo aint that unapproachable are they ?

He was quite interested when i told him of the sort of numbers that the Rallysportescorts site could get along there...
Needs to be looked at a little closer as it'd be a shame for us to double there ND and not get any rewards...
It'd help towards the running of the site and any banners for future events

Even if we don't go as some sort of ND it'd be great to get everyone over there just to see some Lotus sunbeams and mk2's out on the sprint track and to all meet up again...

Obviously some of us don't have quite the support with some of the clubs for whatever reasons, but this gathering needs to go ahead for the simple reason that there is a tremendous good feeling and support for Rallysportescorts, which has now become so large that the group now warrants it.

It seems a missed opportunity not to get something going that will bring us all together for one very good reason, and that is to put faces to the names that we speak to nearly every day of our lives. Also a central location that is seen to be fair for everyone to travel to will encourage everyone to attend.

We have read about the ongoing detailed and sometimes stunning restorations on here which many of us follow with great interest, so wouldn't it be a great inspiration to complete our restorations in time for our show for everyone to see....maybe a little certificate for "resto of the year" could be included. This could also include a platform for showing off the latest in new remanufactured parts.

It's time we had something of our own!....besides a bit of competition for the other clubs can be good as it may encourage them to keep on their toes and to try a bit harder.

This thread is a very good read, seems there is a splinter group forming between the RS marques, not such a bad thing.

I remember going along to the RS meets in the mid nineties and seeing all the Cosworth Escorts taking centre stage, while the more plentiful RS2000's were on the outfield.

So, I guess time changes opinions, and while I've been away from the RS scene a good few years, the memories are still vivid in as much as I loved the old MKI's best of all.

Change is always where people feel least comfortable, but it's healthy to try something different.

Anyway, to get back on topic, I would welcome a ND for the MKI & MKII Escort.

In 2007 2008 and 2009 we all managed to get our cars out from under our carcoons and dust free environments to INVADE The AVO National Day and provide what I hope was a great display of all types of MK I and MKII Escorts

I am sure The AVO would love us to be a major attraction again at their show in 2010

This year MKIGaz has organised on the Saturday before AVO a rolling road shoot out 50 mile away from the Saturday night campsite and BBQ and then all onto Stamford Hall on the Sunday.

Now that to me is the making of a great weekend of Escort fun.

I appreciate the idea of an RSE Show and the locations put forward are superb family friendly venues - Drayton Manor Park, Light Water Valley etc

But personally the tie-in with The AVO's own National Day ensures the greatest amount of MKI and MKII Escorts for a static show and The Lakes Tour gets us all out on the road for all to see.

Maybe for the Southern shandy boys how about a "Run to the Sun" type meet and make a weekend of it camping etc near the beach or on a campsite as some of the boys now have posh motor homes for trailering the wife and kids along as well as their Escort

Why don't you organise a big stand/display/show at either or both rally days(chatsworth/castle combe) as the RSOC can't be bothered to make a decent effort
After all these cars were made for rallying(RS rallye sport) and you get a varied mix of spectators and classic cars but most of all everyone who attends loves the sport
I don't know what castle combes like but at chatsworth theres plenty of space and camping

My RSOC local group (Andy RSX organises)were at combe last year and have been going for a few years ,a mix of old and newer RS cars on show ,a few of here too.

castle coombe rally day is where we want to be,

1-lakes tour to kick off the season (up norf), oggie

2-avo weekend and rolling road shoot out, brooke meadow for camping(midlands), custom

3-castle combe rally day, track, RSE stand, camp nearby should not be a problem(down sarf), do they allow camping at combe?? grum + the other five

everything we could ever want in a year, all in three events, begining, middle and end of the season sorted

No need to have a "specific" RSE Day but tap onto another show that has an Old Skool feel about it and get along there with as many Old Uns as possible

I love the idea of Combe Rally Day and bet if the right noises are made the organisers would possibly give us an area to fill with our shonky old motors

Combe is a good venue - rally day gets too many other club stands - dont know where we would be located -

the track day is obviously run by rsoc so that would have to be arranged with them -

they do various track days during the year during week days and weekends though i doubt you'd get it on a saturday and sunday ie camping ?
